1st Klaipeda Biennial | Curator Valentinas Klimašauskas

Meet Valentinas Klimašauskas (b. 1977), curator of the first Klaipėda Biennial, Sunset Every Two Years. He is a contemporary art curator, art researcher, and writer.

Among the international projects he has curated are the Lithuanian National Pavilion at the Venice Biennale of Contemporary Art (2024), the contemporary art festival Coast Contemporary in the Lofoten Islands, Norway (2023), the 14th Baltic Triennial “The Endless Frontier” (together with João Laia, 2021), and others.

“A space for the transit of planetary and human bodies, desires and goods, themes of poetic or even metaphysical, metaphorical or contextual meanings should offer playfulness when travelling through the biennial and the city,” says V. Klimašauskas about Klaipėda and the upcoming biennial.
