The second edition of the Klaipėda Biennial is planned for Autumn 2027.
The Klaipėda Biennial is an international contemporary art event initiated by the Klaipėda Culture Communication Centre (KCCC).
In 2025, the Biennial took place for the first time and explored transit as a theme encompassing historical, logistical, socioeconomic, ecological, extractivist, aesthetic, magical, poetic, and speculative future scenarios. The second edition aims to further establish the Biennial as one of the leading contemporary art events in the Baltic region while remaining deeply connected to the city of Klaipėda and its communities.
The Klaipėda Biennial attracts a diverse audience: the event is designed to offer a culturally enriching experience that is intellectually stimulating yet accessible to the general public, thereby strengthening the city’s cultural identity and international
visibility. The public is encouraged to engage openly with contemporary art, establish a mutual cultural dialogue, and actively participate in the artistic life of the city.
The organizers KCCC is one of the largest art centers in Western Lithuania, comprising the KCCC Exhibition Hall, graphic arts, photography, and risography workshops, and an artist residency.
Every year, they run an extensive educational program, organizes solo and group exhibitions by Lithuanian and international artists, the Klaipėda Biennial, the Book Art Festival, and other international art projects, as well as various events: workshops, poetry slams, artist presentations, lectures, and concerts. The KCCC disseminates cultural information, publishes a magazine, and manages a cultural portal called “Kulturpolis”.
