On the 5th of September, 7.00 PM, during the opening of the 1st Klaipėda Bennial in the courtyard of KKKC Exhibition Hall, there will be a performance of an interdisciplinary artist based between Vilnius and Bombay Malka Sultan. The name of the performance is Sunset Every Two Years – Performative Dinner.
Her work explores themes of alienation, identity, and migration through performances, culinary arts, and sound. During the performative dinner on the 5th of September, transit and transformation are both theme and method.
Food functions as a ritual medium – activating presence and the space, dissolving distance, and initiating the biennale through embodied ceremony.
